Projector Havoc
I do not currently work in a library, well, I have never worked in a library, but when I worked for the U.S.Government, there was a library on site. When the library received a projector and screen that could be used for presentations, everyone was excited. One thing about working for the government, they do not call Best Buy and have the Geek Squad come out to install and show you how a product works. They send their own 'specially trained' representative to install and show you how to operate the equipment. Because everyone wanted to use the new projector, man hours were spend making logs, and ensuring that the projector was where each person said they would have it, and making sure it was where they informed us it would be. This slowed down production temporarily, until a system was worked out on how to train staff on how to use the equipment, so they could in turn explain it to personnel who would use it. I think it made more people aware that the library was on premises, and that they had technology that could be used to help make work life easier.
